The aquarium is located in the building of the Institute of Aquaculture and Fisheries, which was erected in 1912. Sea inhabitants live in spacious reservoirs where optimal living conditions are created. Part of the exhibition shows the underwater fauna of the Black Sea, another part is dedicated to the oceans. In addition to fish, here you can see algae, mollusks, octopuses and jellyfish.

Tiny aquariums for huge fish, no cleaning, dirty tanks. Tho they have one or two nice fish, it's sad to see them in there. Upgrade the premises or let the fish that are too big go to someone who can take care of them.


Not many types of fish. Most of the descriptions were wrong. Also the fish tanks were pretty small for some of the fishes.


Nice place,aome aquariums .Also there is an exhibition of sea shels .Not big ,but interesting


Not great. Very old and historic place for Varna but think it needs more life in them like plants etc.... good value for money as cheap.


Horrible aquarium. There are more dead fish on display than alive one's. Some of the fish have clean tanks, but most of them are dirty and without any oxygen. Very poor conditions for most of the fish, really really sad. Seahorses seem to be dying on.. Read more »
