If you’re visiting NYC, highly recommend planning a trip here. And if you’re a resident, and haven’t been there, highly suggest that you go and check out this museum. Best part is, you pay whatever you want as a student or a NYC resident! |

Past experiences with groups have taught me, some things are more enjoyable to do solo. I definitely recommend visiting and hopefully, I will be able to visit again in the future. |

This museum is amazing! We spent hours there going through one exhibit after another. There was so much to see, so many priceless pieces from so many .. Read more »different time periods from all over the world. But seeing that massive picture of George Washington crossing the a Delaware was incredible! It was my favorite piece of the whole day! Definitely wear comfortable shoes. You’d probably need more than a day to really look through the museum. Great for a date! |

The permanent collection consists of works of art from classical antiquity and ancient Egypt, paintings, and sculptures from nearly all the European masters, and an extensive collection of American and modern art. The Met maintains extensive holdings of African, Asian, Oceanian, Byzantine, and Islamic art. The museum is home to encyclopedic collections of musical instruments, costumes, and accessories, as well as antique weapons and armor from around the world. Several notable interiors, ranging from 1st-century Rome through modern American design, are installed in its galleries.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art was founded in 1870 for the purposes of opening a museum to bring art and art education to the American people. The Fifth Avenue building opened on February 20, 1872, at 681 Fifth Avenue.
