Singer Book HouseSt. Petersburg, Russia
5 / 5
The building is a striking example of St. Petersburg Art Nouveau. It houses a bookstore. All urban literature lovers gather here. At the beginning of the 20th century, the place belonged to the American company Singer, which planned to erect a high-rise building and place an office in it. Of the conceived eleven floors, only seven were built, but still the structure stood out from the surrounding landscape. 6. You should take a look at the exterior before entering this book stores. You will be amazed by how beautiful the bookstore looks both exterior and .. Read more »interior. Content wise, I had not able to look for any English language books although I am told by a Russian guide that there are. There is a cafe at level 02 which is a shame for me that I do not have the opportunity to explore. It seems that the window view from the cafe overlooking the Main Street and the Kazan Cathedral should be in plain view. I had compare their souvenirs with the rest of souvenirs stores line along the street and their are the cheapest with the widest selection. You can get those souvenirs slightly cheaper in the supermarkets but no good selection. Definitely, a must to visit place in Russia, St Petersburg. |
