The palace is located in the southern part of Salzburg. It was erected for Archbishop Leopold Firmian in the 18th century. The architectural project was developed by a monk of the Order of St. Benedict, who was also a talented architect. Leopoldskron was intended for the residence of the archbishop and his family. The interior decoration of the palace is dominated by a slightly pretentious Rococo style with rich murals.

I believe there’s 15 rooms in the palace. There is another more modern building with 50+ rooms that are smaller and don’t have the view. Both buildings are about 50m from each other though. Lovely lake to walk around that’s open to the public, so you need to leave the property to find the start of the trail. If you need to head to the train station or into town, the bus stop is about 10min walk. I walked into town and it took about 30 minutes. Great breakfast buffet selection in a stunning room.
