I love the history and the view of the city + sea, however I found a lot of basic info to be lacking. There were plenty of text blurbs all over inside detailing historical battles and found shipwrecks, but I couldn't find any info on how the fortress.. Read more »
Very impressive middle age fort. Still strong and maintained. Definitely must visit in Heraklio. You can walk the narrow wave barrier hundreds of meters into the sea to get a nice views back to the city and main port.
Only 2 € (cash only) and considering how much time we spend here well worth it. Gives a lot of information about the history of Heraklion and the various occupations over the years. Also great view of the sea and surrounding area!
