Lincoln Memorial

Washington, USA
4.9 / 28
The complex, located within the National Alley. He is dedicated to President Abraham Lincoln. The idea to erect a monument in order to perpetuate the memory of the 16th president arose immediately after the death of Lincoln, but the memorial appeared only in 1922. The building of the complex is somewhat reminiscent of the ancient Parthenon. A colonnade of 36 columns symbolizes 36 states (during the Lincoln presidency there were only 36 states).
