Kraków Zoo

Krakow, Poland
4.6 / 7
The very first menagerie appeared in Krakow on the territory of Wawel even under King Sigismund III, when the city was the capital of the Polish state. After Krakow lost its capital status, the zoo gradually fell into decay. The modern menagerie was founded in 1929. At that time, only about 200 mammals and birds lived in it. Today, more than 1,500 thousand individuals (260 species) live in the Krakow Zoo.
