Jewish Quarter (Josefov)Prague, Czech Republic
A quarter on the site of a 11th century Jewish ghetto. Until the beginning of the XVIII century it was surrounded by a wall, but at the behest of Joseph II, the barriers were demolished. The quarter was completely rebuilt at the end of the 19th century, only a few old buildings and synagogues were preserved, as well as an old Jewish cemetery. Before the events of World War II, more than 100 thousand people lived here, now the population is only a few thousand inhabitants.
