One of the largest Jewish temples in Europe, is located in the Jewish quarter of Budapest. The area of the synagogue is 1200 m², capacity - up to 3 thousand people. In the courtyard is the Jewish Museum. The synagogue is built in the Byzantine style with some oriental elements, the interior decoration resembles the interiors of Catholic cathedrals. During the Second World War, the building was looted. Full recovery occurred in the 90s. XX century.

As beautiful as this place is it is FAR too pricey for what you get. For 5000 ft per adult I would expect a much better guided tour and better exhibitions. The place is, however, both unique and fantastic to see, but in my opinion far too expensive .. Read more »


I am a Japanese tourist. It was my first time to visit Budapest, and also Synagogue. So beautiful and absolutely gorgeous. I went to see the exhibition as well, and I lost my camera there. I almost cried when I noticed that I lost it, and I went back.. Read more »
