City zoo in the territory of Varoshliget park. It contains about 3 thousand animals, among them there are representatives of exotic continents. Of interest are the oceanarium, palm pavilion and butterfly house. Also in the zoo there is a Hungarian ethno-village where pets live. Beasts can not only be watched, but also fed at certain hours. At least 3 hours should be allowed to visit the zoo. I give it 3 stars because I have visited the schönbronne zoo in Vienna, firstly, the design of the zoo and access to the different animals needs some .. Read more »changes to facilitate the transition from species to another. However, the zoo has variety of animals and other activities. Different restaurants and soft drinks shops are also available but of expensive prices. For the children, you can hire a small car to pull it and you can access most of the places with it. |

It is a very informative and interactive Zoo. Not my favourite in Hungary, simply because it is a bit crowded and it is in the middle of the city and.. Read more » the railway is just next to it. That probably stresses the animals a lot.
Also at the moment 1/3 of it is closed down, that might be useful information.
I recommend the langos place on top of the cliffs, the pricing is a bit high, but the food is good. |

Very beautiful Zoo. I was a bit sad, because probably due to coronavirus pandemic my favourite animals (giraffes) were far away from their normal plac.. Read more »e. But other things were ok. I hope I will see it again some day ? |

A place with very beautiful gardens and pathways, lots of shade is available during the summer.

Wide range scale of wild animals can be seen, they keep them well fed, they get to go outside.
Altough I am fighting with the negative thoughts of these animals being "locked up", they seem to have a nice life.
There are a few restaurants available at the territory of the zoo, plus many buffets as you walk around. |

A lot of things to see, so you would need at least 4 hours there. Some parts are closed, but still, quite a cool place with a wide range of species. |

Budapest Zoo & Botanical Garden (Hungarian: Fővárosi Állat- és Növénykert) is the oldest zoo park in Hungary and one of the oldest in the world.

The zoo opened its doors on 9 August 1866. The park has 1–1.1 million visitors every year. The area is a nature reserve, and has some valuable art nouveau buildings designed by Kornél Neuschloss and Károly Kós. More than 1,000 species are living there. The most special animals that are present in the zoo are the Komodo dragon and from December 2011 the wombat.
The zoo is located in the city centre and can be reached by Line 1 (Budapest Metro)
Official city card (Budapest card) owners get a 25% discount for a single ticket into the zoo.

Big zoo with plenty of animals to look at, infrastruncture is a bit worn, but animals and plants are well loved and taken care of. No english translat.. Read more »ion for animal descriptions.
Get some local currency or an app beforehand to pay for parking. Not worth to come in before 10am as all buildings are closed until then. |

Great place, well organised, a lot of animals from all countries around the world. Easy ticketing service, parking the car was easy to find nearby. On.. Read more »e problem though.... inside there is no way to pay by card. It is not ok, especially when you go with your family. Cash only inside if you want to buy food or water. A big minus for this. |

The best place to be if you have kids. The zoo is huge, the animals are great and the activities for children are numerous. I wish more of the caffess.. Read more » and restaurants were open during our visit. We stayed there for the whole day and I would love to go back again. Just a wonderful experience. |
